Dr. Vladimir Kratky is an acclaimed oculoplastic surgeon and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, where he serves as Director of the Ophthalmic Plastic and Orbital Surgery service. With extensive training and a distinguished career devoted entirely to this specialized field, Dr. Kratky has established himself as a leader in both surgical technique and academic medicine.
Dr. Kratky earned his Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Ottawa, followed by his Medical Degree cum laude from the same institution. He completed his general internship in medicine and surgery at Toronto General Hospital before pursuing residency training in ophthalmology at the University of Toronto. To develop mastery in oculoplastic surgery, he undertook an extended fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through the University of Toronto and McMaster University—the only ASOPRS-approved fellowship program in Canada. During this intensive training, he studied under six accomplished oculoplastic surgeons, including the renowned Drs. Jeffrey J. Hurwitz, Jack Crawford, and Martin Kazdan.
A diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Kratky maintains active memberships in the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Canadian Society of Oculoplastic Surgery (where he previously served as president and currently advises the board), and the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His clinical practice is exclusively devoted to oculoplastic surgery, encompassing both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures of the eyelids, eyebrows, tear drainage system, and orbit.
Dr. Kratky maintains offices at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Kingston and holds surgical privileges at Kingston General Hospital, St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, and Lennox & Addington General Hospital. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences. Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Kratky previously served as president of the Medical Staff Association of Kingston hospitals, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing patient care and surgical excellence throughout southeastern Ontario.
Extended fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto and McMaster University in Hamilton. Fellowship training was conducted at the University of Toronto, which is the only ASOPRS approved program in Canada, under the tutelage of six ophthalmic plastic surgeons, including Drs. Jeffrey J. Hurwitz, Jack Crawford and Martin Kazdan. Dr. Kratky is a member of ASOPRS (American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery).
